Helping Seniors Help Their Pets
Seniors 1st Project
Utopia For Pets is a 501c3 nonprofit organization helping senior citizens of Knox County, Illinois. We are proud to announce our CITIZENS4SENIORS Initiative - 2021 Seniors 1st Project!
Our Senior 1st Project aims to offer financial assistance for veterinary care of pets of local senior citizens who fall within 150% of the annual poverty level.
In 2018, approximately 48.6% of the population of Illinois owned pets. As of July 1, 2019, it was estimated that 10,528 senior citizens lived in Knox County.
Seniors 1st Project will assist senior pet owners in providing needed veterinarian care for their pets. To qualify for funding, a pet owner must be 65+ and have income that is within 150% of the annual federal poverty level. Upon approval, a set payment amount will be made directly to an approved veterinarian for the specific service needed for that animal. The program goal for 2021 is to provide assistance to 30 pets (cats/dogs) for needed dental care, physical exams, vaccinations, and blood work. Funding will be made available to applicants May 1-December 31, 2021 or until funds have been depleted. 100% of funds raised will be directly used towards vet care. Any funds remaining at the end of the year will carry over to 2022.
As a donor, you would not only be helping pets of local seniors, but you would be providing peace of mind for those seniors in our county who are struggling financially to care for the best friend.
Donors of $100 or more will be recognized on social media (Facebook, Instagram) as well as our website. Upon request donors will be notified with specifics on how their funds were used along with information as to the pet they have helped. In addition, we plan to feature pets and seniors who have benefited from these funds on CITIZENS4SENIORS webpage.
We hope that you will consider donating to our project!
